Learn how to wash and care for your G-string so it stays soft, stretchy, and in shape. Follow these simple steps for gentle laundry that extends the life of delicate underwear.

Quick Answer

Hand wash your G-string in cool water with a mild detergent and lay it flat to air dry. This gentle routine keeps the micromodal fabric soft and the elastic from stretching out.

Why G-strings Need Special Care

G-strings are made from delicate fabrics like micromodal and fine elastic that can lose shape or fray if treated roughly. Machine washing, hot water, and high heat drying are the main causes of pilling, fading, and stretched-out waistbands.

A little extra care pays off: your favorite G-string will feel barely-there longer and won't bunch or sag after a few wears. The steps below are designed for the silky-soft micromodal used in our G-String, but they work for most delicate underwear.

How to Wash Your G-String (Step by Step)

  1. Step 1: Pre-treat stains gently: Rub a drop of mild laundry soap directly onto any visible stains. Let it sit for 5 minutes, then rinse with cool water before the main wash. Never use bleach or stain removers with enzymes — they can weaken elastic fibers.
  2. Step 2: Hand wash in cool water: Fill a sink or basin with cool water and add a teaspoon of gentle detergent (like one for delicates or baby clothes). Submerge the G-string and gently squeeze the fabric — don't rub or twist. Let it soak for 5–10 minutes. Hot water can shrink micromodal and damage elastic. If you must machine wash, put the G-string in a mesh lingerie bag and use the delicate cycle.
  3. Step 3: Rinse thoroughly: Drain the soapy water and refill with fresh cool water. Gently press the fabric to push soap out, then repeat until no suds remain. Residual detergent can irritate skin and cause fabric to yellow over time.
  4. Step 4: Press out excess water — never wring: Lay the G-string flat on a clean towel. Roll the towel up and press gently to absorb moisture. Unroll and reshape the garment to its original form. Wringing twists the fibers and stretches the elastic. The towel-roll method removes water without damage.
  5. Step 5: Air dry flat away from heat: Place the G-string on a drying rack or a dry towel in a well-ventilated area out of direct sunlight. Let it dry completely before wearing or storing. Never use a tumble dryer or radiator — high heat destroys elastic and can shrink micromodal. Drying time is usually 4–6 hours.
  6. Step 6: Store loosely in a drawer: Fold the G-string gently and place it in a drawer without heavy items on top. Avoid hanging it by the elastic band, which can stretch over time. Storing in a lingerie organizer or separate compartment keeps delicate pieces from snagging on hooks or zippers.

The G-String That Benefits From This Care

  • G-String: Made from silky-soft micromodal with generous stretch and soft, smooth edges. Micromodal is breathable and gentle on skin, but it needs cool water and mild detergent to keep its softness and prevent pilling.
